A small company from Georgia. A decades-old promise, delivered.
For decades, the holy grail of insulation was a material whose performance would change as the heat load changed. Large programs and large budgets chased it. Syndego LLC built it — and called it EnigMAT™.
Our story
They said it couldn't be done. So we did it.
In 2002 the partners who later founded Syndego received the National Association of Home Builders' Innovative Housing Technology Award for the first commercially available bio-based spray-foam insulation. The large chemical and insulation companies had said it could not be done. Today many of them make high bio-content foams.
That same summer, a call came from Texas: could a phase-change material be built into a foam blanket? The team came away wanting to understand phase change — and convinced that, fully developed, it could be the most important new building technology in fifty years.
What followed was the long work of making salt hydrates behave: locking moisture in, keeping crystals from settling, giving every cell room to expand. The result stands on more than 40 years of research and dozens of patents in the field — and on our own test apparatus, which measures every formulation through a simulated day and night.
